Solutions for the safe and efficient digitization of rare and delicate book archives

Why Phase One?

A large part of the Cultural Heritage community works on the digitization of rare and delicate bound materials. Digitization of books often requires special attention to the binding, which can be fragile, and will determine how the material can be treated in the process. This can sometimes be the limiting factor when looking for fast capture.

Phase One book scanning solutions, in partnership with Digital Transitions’ specialized copy stands, facilitate an accelerated and high quality capture process while remaining attentive to material safety.

iXG Camera System

The iXG Camera System is an intelligent capture solution for processing high volume digitization programs with speed and accuracy, while retaining format flexibility.

The iXG Camera System is equipped with PPI-Assist, which accurately measures the distance to the object and records PPI, field-of-view and magnification, making it easy to position the iXG on any copy stand for a given scanning application. In combination with the Phase One AutoColumn copy stands and Capture One CH, the iXG Camera System delivers automated camera positioning for a specified PPI.

Capture cradle

In partnership with Digital Transitions, Phase One Book Scanning Solutions feature specialized copy stands developed for the safe and efficient digitization of books and other bound material.

DT Atom and book digitization cradle

The DT Atom is flexible and expandable tabletop digitization platform featuring AutoColumn. The combination is suitable for the conservation-friendly, preservation-grade, and efficient digitization of A3 bound material. The DT Atom additionally allows for the easy changing of tops for the digitization of a wide variety of materials – extending usability outside of bound material.

DT Versa and all-purpose digitization cradle

The DT Versa is the optimal solution for the rapid capture of mixed rare, bound and loose document collections, and supports books up to 63.5x89cm with a 10.2cm maximum binding. The solution includes AutoColumn to achieve preservation-grade reproductions at the fastest rate of capture, while ensuring reliability, ease of use and material safety.

DT Dual Camera Book Cradle

The DT BC100 Dual Camera Book Cradle redefines how library materials are digitized. It is specifically designed for the mass digitization of books, and holds the largest variety of bound material – supporting page sizes up to A2 per side, while ensuring quality, speed, reliability, and material safety.
